Janelle Monáe - Dirty Computer

Janelle has released a third consecutive gem of an album. The production is slick, but still solid enough to take it seriously. Her merits as a performer are nothing new, still possessing exceptional vocal chops complemented by infectious beats, which once again makes for a joyous listen. The only thing different this time around is the waiting period since her last release. It’s completely understandable as how during the interim, she’s carved out a respectable second job as an actress. Janelle has been able to hold her own when she went back into the studio for what must have been an arduous process. There aren’t too many modern musicians who have been able to make waves on both sides of the entertainment industry, so the three years of waiting with baited breath were worth it. Making music is something she truly loves to do.
