While hip-hop purists have breathed a collective sigh of relief over the state of the genre in recent years with artists such as Kendrick and Danny Brown, the emergence of Denzel Curry has broken people’s heads over how world-wise this guy is. Ironically, young guys who can rap fast generally don’t have a lot to say, but Denzel delivers lightning-quick rhymes on pop culture references people his age generally don’t know about. Key line, from “Mad I Got It: “I'm on some other shit, mind is twisted; I wear this mask every day, Stanley Ipkiss”. These two phrases alone make these purists hope he stays around for a very long time.
