Chris Hillman – Bidin’ My Time

Chris Hillman is an unheralded legend; not a typical household name, though he’s sung on more than his share of classics for the better part of 50 years. This latest record showcases, as he considers it, a range of everything he’s done in the studio over the course of his venerable career. He even recruited some of his old bandmates from the Byrds, Roger McGuinn and David Crosby. Members of the Heartbreakers back him up, as well, so it should seem fitting that the late, great Tom Petty oversaw the whole thing at the controls. Petty’s music was in huge part influenced by the Byrds, and one might call it bittersweet that Hillman’s cover of “Wildflowers” will now stand as an enduring tribute.
