Converge – The Dusk in Us
When it comes to rotating lineups, metal groups are the first that typically come to mind. But when Converge has barely changed a thing since releasing their biggest album, “Jane Doe,” in 2001, that benefits them enormously as they’ve established and continued to use their blueprints to success ever since. From the opening screams of “A Single Tear” to closer “Reptilian,” the band keeps on wrecking eardrums with their subgenre-bending brand of rock. Standard time signatures, as fans long ago learned, are not a priority here, and this aspect is key in keeping the listener’s attention. From start to finish, their next move is always a surprise.
